Located at 10551 Mission Rd, this lively spot caters to both casual diners and special event patrons with an inviting atmosphere that feels simultaneously sophisticated and warm.
The menu at Rye Leawood is a celebration of classic American flavors elevated with thoughtful details. Guests flock here for the brunch experience, which has rightfully earned high praise. Consider the brunch sides—impossibly crisp smoked bacon or savory sausage, golden hash browns smothered in ham gravy, or the large single buttermilk pancake that perfectly balances fluff and richness. These elements harmonize alongside softly scrambled eggs and thick-cut bacon, making each bite a comforting delight. The freshly brewed Roasterie Rye Special Blend coffee or a silky café mocha are ideal companions to your meal, rounding out the brunch with warmth and depth.
For those who appreciate a careful balance of flavors, Rye offers a noteworthy selection of teas, such as the floral Green Jasmine BaiHao or the calming caffeine-free Rest Easy Bouquet—each thoughtfully curated to complement the dining experience. Sweet endings like the flourless chocolate cake with espresso sauce and coffee ice cream make a memorable finish, especially for gluten-free guests craving indulgence.
Dinner at Rye continues this tradition with hearty offerings that please both steak lovers and fried chicken aficionados. The family-style fried chicken dinner, served alongside crisp wedge salads and a standout whipped ricotta appetizer, delivers a satisfying, communal dining experience that’s perfect for gatherings. Colleen McCullough’s testimony about knowledgeable staff and accommodating gluten-free options underscores the restaurant’s dedication to inclusivity and quality. Even first-time visitors appreciate the thoughtful presentation and flavor innovation, despite some menu nuances.
Whether you’re drawn by the promise of a perfect biscuit soaked in steaming sausage gravy, the comfort of homestyle huevos rancheros, or the vibrant energy of an expertly mixed cocktail at the bar, Rye Leawood delivers an authentic American dining experience wrapped in genuine hospitality. Perfect spot for a delicious Sunday brunch. My Rye Breakfast was excellent: a lovely large biscuit with steaming sausage gravy… super-crispy hash browns… a tasty sausage link… softly scrambled eggs… and perfectly cooked, thick-cut, fabulously delicious bacon. I asked for “shatteringly crisp” and the kitchen crew nailed it. So good. Already looking forward to another visit.

This was my first time at Rye, and I loved it. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The menu has something for everyone, but seems to be heavy on steak and fried chicken. As someone gluten free, my options are limited, but my favorite was the flourless chocolate cake with espresso sauce and coffee ice cream. I would come back just for more of that.

Went in for a Sunday fall brunch with a group of 6. Was seated quickly in the back in a cute nook area. The server was a little slow on taking orders but the food came out relatively quickly. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel, which did not say that it was a deconstructed version of this. I actually double checked the menu when it came out to make sure I didn’t miss this. I then spent the next 10 minutes creating my bagel. If I wanted to make my own food, I would have done that at home. The cocktails were good and the food for the remainder of the table was good. The server was helpful but I was disappointed with a deconstructed meal. For one cocktail and the bagel it was $30 which was good value for a brunch spot. Perhaps if I’d ordered something different I would have been more pleased with the experience, as I said the other food on the table was quite good (and not deconstructed).

Three high school classmates and I had a mini reunion and everyone loved our dinner at Rye! We all shared the family style fried chicken dinner and a few sides. The whipped ricotta appetizer and wedge salads were delicious! The Blueberry cobbler was superb! Sorry no fried chicken pics but it was truly delicious! Excellent meal, service and atmosphere!! Thank you!!

Great new brunch spot we tried, good homestyle food. We tried the enormous cinnamon roll, soft and sweet. I had the huevos Ranchero, the tortilla was crispy with pulled pork and scrambled eggs, was delicious and large portion.

Rye Leawood never misses. We love everything from the perfectly cooked steak to the iconic fried chicken. The house hot sauce is a must and the pies are hands down some of the best in Kansas City. Dessert is non-negotiable here. Tonight our server, Georgia, made the experience even better. Our entrees took a little longer than usual because of larger parties ahead of us, but she kept us in the loop and surprised us with complimentary coffees. Such a thoughtful touch and genuinely appreciated. In the summer, the patio is one of our favorite spots for apps and drinks. Great food, warm service, and a place that keeps us coming back.
